Farah Wardani is an independent art curator, consultant and producer of cultural programs, active since 2002. She received her Master's in Art History (20th Century) from the Department of Historical & Cultural Studies, Goldsmiths College, London, in 2001.
Farah has a special interest in the relation of art practice and generational discourse, that she manifests into her curatorial practice and professional projects in the GLAM (Gallery-Library-Archive-Museum) field in Indonesia and abroad. In 2023, her compilation of art writings for 2 decades was published into a book titled ‘Skena 2000: Berkas Seni Rupa Indonesia 2002-2023’ (Gang Kabel, 2023).
Farah was the Artistic Director of the 2013 Biennale Yogyakarta and the Executive Director of the 2021 Jakarta Biennale. In 2006-2015, Farah served as Director of the Indonesian Visual Art Archive (IVAA) in Yogyakarta, and she is currently a member of the IVAA Advisory Board. In 2015-2019, she joined National Gallery Singapore as Assistant Director to the Resource Center (Curatorial & Collections). She is currently a member of the SAKA Museum, Bali, Expert Committee, having been involved since its early development in 2022. She is one of the curators of Ellipse Art Project’s +E Program at the 2024 Biennale de Lyon, France. Since 2024, she joined the National Gallery Singapore Acquisition Committee (period 2024-2027).
