Opening Performance

Salam

Choreographer/Performer: Zulkarnain Zuber, Wong Shan Tie, Nadhirah Rahmat and Jackson Janda.

Salam is inspired by the many ways human beings greet one another. The work explores how gestures of greeting vary between peers, elders, and younger generations, reflecting different expressions of respect, familiarity, and affection. It also examines how these customs differ across cultures, revealing both the diversity and universality of human connection. Through movement, Salam celebrates greeting as a simple yet profound act that bridges people, traditions, and communities.

Closing Performance

To Be Touched

Choreographer: Zulkarnain Zuber

Performer: Zulkarnain Zube

Salam This choreographic research is focussed on uncovering the layered meanings and responses that could arise through and from the sense of touch. The work aims to create a thought-provoking and emotionally engaging experience for the audience, inviting them to actively participate in the performer’s intimate, personal narrative and memories.

The work emerged from the Roots of Dance residency with Jacek Luminski from Poland.
