Ngajat Iban

The ngajat dance is a dance that is synonymous with the Iban community in Sarawak. In ancient times, this was danced to welcome the warriors who had just returned from war or from hunting expeditions. These days, the ngajat dance is performed as a celebration of the community, and during the harvest festival or Gawai in Sarawak. In addition, there are many ngajat dances including Ngajat Lesong, Ngajat Bunuh, Ngajat Kuta, Ngajat Induk and many more.

Anggalang Magunatip: The Bamboo Dance of the Murut Ethnic Group

Anggalang Magunatip, a traditional dance from the Murut ethnic group in Sabah, Malaysia, features dancers skillfully leaping between rhythmically clapped bamboo poles. This energetic dance, requiring precise timing and agility, is performed during significant community celebrations like harvest festivals and weddings. Accompanied by traditional Murut instruments such as gongs and drums, the dance showcases unity and harmony with nature. Today, Anggalang Magunatip is a popular cultural attraction, highlighting the rich heritage of the Murut people.

ASK Dance Company is a full-time dance company based in Kuala Lumpur composed of professional dancers. They specialise in providing training, workshops, master classes, performances, choreography as well as undertaking collaborative projects in traditional and contemporary genres of dance.

They have also received numerous awards including winning gold medals at World Championship of Performing Arts, Selangor Young Talent Award 2011, BOH Cameronian Arts Awards for Performance, Choreography and other categories, International Scholarships and other distinguished prizes.
